Entry requirements for Azerbaijan

Most visitors to Azerbaijan need a short-stay e-Visa, issued online in a few working days through the official ASAN Visa system. This is a practical summary; always confirm against the official sources below before you travel.

Visa policy

Most nationalities require a visa. The simplest route is the ASAN Visa e-Visa: a 30-day single-entry visa applied for online at evisa.gov.az. A handful of countries are visa-exempt or eligible for visa-on-arrival — check your nationality first.

How the e-Visa works

Apply on the official evisa.gov.az portal, upload a passport scan and pay the fee. Standard processing is three working days; an urgent option delivers in a few hours. You receive a PDF to print or keep on your phone.

Passport & documents

A passport valid for at least three months beyond your intended stay, your e-Visa PDF, and proof of onward travel and accommodation. One entry per single-entry visa.

At the border

Present your passport and e-Visa at immigration. Foreign nationals staying more than 15 days must register with the State Migration Service (hotels usually handle this for you).

Customs & currency

Standard duty-free allowances apply. Cash of USD 10,000 or equivalent and above must be declared. Note: prior travel to occupied territories can affect entry — ask us if unsure.

Azerbaijan visa questions, answered

Do I need a visa for Azerbaijan?
Most visitors need a visa, and the easy route is the online ASAN e-Visa — a 30-day single-entry permit through the official portal (evisa.gov.az). A handful of nationalities are visa-exempt; we confirm which applies to your passport.
How long does the Azerbaijan ASAN e-Visa take?
Standard processing is about three working days; an urgent option is faster. Apply with your passport, keep the approved PDF on your phone or printed, and you're set for the border. If you book with us, we guide you through it.
Do Indian and GCC citizens need a visa for Azerbaijan?
Most Indian and Gulf travellers use the ASAN e-Visa (evisa.gov.az), usually issued within three working days. Requirements can change, so we confirm your exact status and timing before your trip.
Can I combine Georgia and Azerbaijan on one trip?
Yes. They're separate countries with separate entry rules, so you may need a Georgia e-Visa (or enter visa-free) plus an Azerbaijan ASAN e-Visa. We sequence both and the short Tbilisi–Baku flight so it all lines up.
