Lagodekhi is Georgia’s oldest protected area, established in 1912, tucked into the humid forested slopes of the far east where the Caucasus meets the Azerbaijan border. It is a lush, waterfall-rich park with well-marked trails.
Day hikes reach the Ninoskhevi and Rocho waterfalls and the Machi fortress; the classic three-day route climbs to the Black Rock Lake at 2,800 m. Infrastructure and signage are among the best in the country.
