Note
All passes open
Summer opens the whole country. The high passes to Tusheti, Svaneti and the Abano are clear, the alpine meadows are in bloom and the glacier hikes around Kazbek and Ushguli are at their best. On the coast, Batumi and the Black Sea beaches come alive, and the lowlands can be hot — so most itineraries climb into the cool of the mountains. It is peak season: book the mountain guesthouses and coastal hotels well ahead.
