Winter turns the Greater Caucasus into a proper ski destination. Gudauri offers wide, snow-sure off-piste and freeride terrain just two hours from Tbilisi, while family-friendly Bakuriani suits beginners and kids. Off the slopes, Tbilisi is at its cosiest — the domed sulphur baths of Abanotubani, warm khinkali dinners and quiet museums. High mountain villages like Tusheti are closed by snow, so winter itineraries centre on the resorts and the cities.
