10 days in Georgia — a first-timer's route
A balanced first trip: Tbilisi and the wine country, the high Caucasus at Kazbegi, then the caves of Imereti and the Black Sea — with room to slow down.
The shape of a first trip
Ten days is enough to see Georgia's big three — the capital, the wine country and the high mountains — without rushing, and still add the coast or a cave city. We build every itinerary around your arrival times, so treat this as a frame, not a fixed tour.
Days 1–3: Tbilisi and Kakheti
Start in Tbilisi — the Old Town, the sulphur baths and Rustaveli Avenue — then take a day in Kakheti, the eastern wine region, for qvevri cellars, a family tasting and the hilltop town of Sighnaghi. Mtskheta, the ancient capital, fits neatly on the way.
Days 4–6: the Military Highway and Kazbegi
Drive the Georgian Military Highway past Ananuri reservoir and Gudauri up to Kazbegi, where the Gergeti Trinity Church stands beneath Mount Kazbek. This is the scenic heart of the trip; we watch the Jvari Pass weather and time the day around it.
Days 7–10: Imereti, caves and the coast
From here most first-timers head west to Kutaisi for the Prometheus and Sataplia caves and Gelati Monastery, then finish on the Black Sea in Batumi — or swap in Svaneti's tower villages for more mountains. We tailor the last stretch to your pace.
