August is high summer — hot on the lowlands, but cool and green in the high Caucasus. How Gulf and other travellers plan a comfortable August trip.

What August is really like

In August, Tbilisi, Batumi and Baku sit in the low-to-mid 30s °C, while the high mountains — Svaneti, Kazbegi, Bakuriani, Shahdag — stay cool and green. For travellers escaping a hotter Gulf summer, that contrast is exactly the appeal.

Route around the heat

The trick is altitude and timing: cities and coast in the mornings and evenings, mountains in the heat of the day. A common August shape is a few days in Tbilisi and Kakheti, then up to Kazbegi or Svaneti where the air is cool, with the Batumi coast for the sea.

For families from the Gulf

August is peak family season and well set up for it: halal dining is easy to arrange, the mountain resorts are green and mild, and we plan the days at a family pace with prayer times built in. Tell us your dates and we shape the route to the weather.
