Kobuleti vs Batumi: which Black Sea town?

Georgia's coast has two very different resorts — buzzy Batumi and quiet, family-friendly Kobuleti. How to pick, or split your time between them.

Batumi — the buzzy one

Batumi is the coast's main city: a walkable old town, a long seaside boulevard, a skyline of quirky towers, plus restaurants, nightlife and casinos. It's lively and modern, and a good base for the green Adjaran mountains inland — the choice if you want energy and things to do.

Kobuleti — the quiet one

Just up the coast, Kobuleti is calmer and lower-key — a long pebble beach, a relaxed seafront and a family resort feel without Batumi's bustle. It suits travellers who want the sea and sun without the city, and it's an easy day-trip from Batumi if you want both.

How to choose

Want restaurants, walks and city buzz? Batumi. Want a quieter beach base? Kobuleti. They're only a short drive apart, so we often split coast time between them, or pair either with the mountains and wine country inland.
