Flying to Georgia on a budget — the Kutaisi guide

Europe's cheap way into Georgia is Kutaisi, not Tbilisi — low-cost flights, then an easy hop to Tbilisi or the Batumi coast. Here's how to make it work.

Why Kutaisi

Kutaisi International Airport in western Georgia is the country's low-cost gateway: budget carriers such as Wizz Air fly there from across Europe, often far cheaper than flying into Tbilisi. If your priority is a cheap fare, Kutaisi is usually the answer — we confirm the live routes for your city and dates.

Getting onward

Kutaisi sits roughly midway between Tbilisi (about 3–4 hours by road) and Batumi on the Black Sea (about 2 hours). Shuttle buses meet flights, but for groups and families we usually arrange a private transfer that's waiting when you land, timed to your actual arrival.

Making a trip of it

Because Kutaisi is in Imereti, it's easy to start right there — the Prometheus and Sataplia caves, Gelati Monastery and the Okatse canyon are all close — then work east to Tbilisi and the mountains, or west to the coast. We build the route around where you fly in and out.
